Fly right into Brownsville via the Brownsville/South Padre Island International Airport (BRO). Our airport services American Airlines and United Airlines. Southwest Airlines is serviced nearby in Harlingen, approximately 28 miles North of downtown Brownsville.
The Brownsville/South Padre Island International Airport has been in operation since March 9, 1929 when Charles Lindbergh landed in Brownsville after a historic five-hour flight from Mexico City establishing the first International Airmail service. Lindbergh was welcomed to a crowd of 20,000 people, which included Amelia Earhart.
