Borderígena: Many Times Over by Jesus De La Rosa @ UTRGV - Brownsville Rusteberg Art Gallery
Sep 5 – Sep 29 all-day
Borderígena: Many Times Over by Jesus De La Rosa @ UTRGV - Brownsville Rusteberg Art Gallery | Brownsville | Texas | United States

UTRGV – Brownsville Rusteberg Art Gallery’s first exhibition of the Fall 2017 semester will feature the work of Kingsville, TX artist and Texas A&M-Kingsville University Professor, Jesus De La Rosa. Rosa’s show will consist of additive and subtractive two-dimensional work that derives from his insight with the Texas/México landscape.

De La Rosa describes his process by saying, “I see these layers and images as metaphors for the phenomena of cultural appropriation, the crossing of cultural, economic, social and historical borders, or a disclosure on the human condition. I make works that coerce these layers to interrelate, coexist, and come into synthesis. Understanding these languages through my work allow me to merge differences and similarities and make sense of my place within this framework.”

“Borderígena: Many Times Over” opens Tuesday, September 5 at 6:00 pm. The exhibition will run until Friday, September 29. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome. Free to the public.

Play is the way young children learn and develop. At the Children’s Museum of Brownsville we believe that play is a necessity, not a luxury, and that every child should have a safe and nurturing place to play. The Children’s Museum of Brownsville is the perfect environment for children to play and learn alongside their caring adults.

As a community based organization, the Children’s Museum of Brownsville is asking for your help by supporting our annual fundraiser, “A Night at the Museum – Fabulous Las Vegas”. This event will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Ringgold Civic Pavilion. The event includes a cocktail hour, hors d’oeuvres, auction and an exciting evening for adults only.

Proceeds from our event will enhance our exhibits, develop new programming and extend our outreach into the community.
