Become a Junior Ranger Explorer by learning about nature through different activities, and borrow one of our Explorer Packs. Interested youth complete a series of activities, share their answers with a park ranger, and receive a Junior Ranger pin. These activities are typically for ages between 5 to 13, but anyone is welcome.

Bring: Water, closed-toed shoes, appropriate weather attire and your thirst for knowledge. Optional items: Sunscreen and bug spray.

Meet: Check in at the Visitor Center and any pertinent instructions will be given at this time.

Carol Plumb, Local artist, she paints in oil on linen, canvas, often working in large scale to enhance the grandness of our landscape. She graduated from The Minneapolis College of Art Design with a BFA. Later, Carol earned a teaching certification, at Middlebury College, Vermont. She had taught locally, at Brownsville Museum of Fine Art, South Padre Island Art Space and privately, and currently at Seaside Art Studio, on South Padre Island.
Carol has been a member of the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art for over ten years, and currently is serving on the Board of Trustee.

Join us on a guided walk to learn about our native habitat and find out who of our “Rio Grande Valley Specialty Birds” can be spotted. This walk is for all visitors, young or old who wants to learn about wildlife, the park, and its bird life. Bring water, one-hour easy trail walk.

This weekly survey allows birders a chance to find birds in their wild habitat, and by logging the bird list on the internet, allows future visitors to find out who’s flying and when!

Bring: Water, good walking/hiking shoes, appropriate weather attire and your sense of adventure. Optional items: Sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, and hiking sticks.
