This limited-time exhibit will be an additional $3.00 will be at the gate or the entrance of the exhibit, which is located in the Special Events building. Step back in time and witness the dinosaurs as they once were, only at the Gladys Porter Zoo.

Dawn of the Dinosaurs was made possible by the City of Brownsville, McDonald’s, and Metro by T-Mobile.

The exhibition will be juried by visual artists Joe Harjo (San Antonio, TX) and Mauricio Saenz (Matamoros, Mexico / Brownsville, TX). The registration fee is $45.00 for up to 3 art pieces. The opening reception will be on Wednesday March 27 at 6:00 pm, and the exhibition time will be from March 27 thru April 27, 2019.

In this 5-day comprehensive, hands-on training program, you’ll learn and practice how to: (1) use The Grantsmanship Center’s proven model for developing a proposal–a model so effective that many funders use the same structure for their grant applications; (2) develop a budget that answer the questions all funders ask; (3) identify grantmakers who are most likely to fund your programs…and much, much more! And you’ll receive 12 months of follow-up support from The Grantsmanship Center, including one proposal review and full access to the Center’s databases of foundation, corporate, and government grantmakers! Date: April 6th – June 29th 2019 (April 20, May 11, May 25)
Time: Saturdays, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

This comprehensive 50 hour program will prepare students to work as a pharmacy technician in a retail or other pharmacy setting and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Course content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Through classroom lecture and hands on labs, students will review dosage calculations, drug classifications, the “top 200 drugs”, I.V. flow rates, sterile compounding, dose conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parental nutrition (TPN), dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.

Twenty-six teams representing middle schools, high schools and colleges from across South Texas will compete in the second annual UTRGV Electric Car Competition.
“We are so excited to bring this competition to the UTRGV Brownsville Campus,” said Milton Hernandez, project coordinator. “The students are working hard designing their cars, and will then test what they have learned at the competition. We invite the public to come out and see first-hand what our students are learning and cheer on their favorite team to victory.”

Join us on a guided walk to learn about our native habitat and find out who of our “Rio Grande Valley Specialty Birds” can be spotted. This walk is for all visitors, young or old who wants to learn about wildlife, the park, and its bird life. Bring water, one-hour easy trail walk.

This weekly survey allows birders a chance to find birds in their wild habitat, and by logging the bird list on the internet, allows future visitors to find out who’s flying and when!

Bring: Water, good walking/hiking shoes, appropriate weather attire and your sense of adventure. Optional items: Sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, and hiking sticks.

Meet: Check in at the Visitor Center to register and any pertinent instructions will be given at this time.

Join us for our Annual Chalk Art Festival inside of Dean Porter Park this April 6, 2019. Children, youth, and adults are encouraged to participate. Competition includes amazing prizes. Children (1-10) can buy a square for $10, youth (11-16) for $15 and Adults (17+) $20.

Chalking begins with registration at 9 am and ends at 1 pm. Prizes and awards are presented at 2 pm.

Registration can take place ahead of time by filling out the form and paying over the phone or in person at the Children’s Museum. You can also join us on April, 6 at 9 a.m. for registration.

Don’t forget to bring sunscreen and an umbrella if you would like. Buy your chalk now and start practicing your design.
