Park Day is an annual event sponsored by the American Battlefield Trust, formerly the Civil War Trust, which enlists volunteers to clean, repair, and learn about local battlefields. Come hear from local historians about battlefields and other military sites. A Civil War living history event will take place in the afternoon at Market Square.(1150 Market Square Street)
The Texas Adopt-A-Beach program will kick off its 33rd Annual Spring Cleanup, at sites along the Texas coast. This is your opportunity to make a difference by helping to preserve one of Texas’ most precious natural resources – our beaches.
Wear sunscreen, shoes, sunglasses and hat
Bring plenty of drinking water and bug repellent
Check in by 9:00 am
Do not disturb the habitat of nesting shorebirds and sea turtles, for your safety, stay off the dunes

Every year the City of Brownsville organizes Earth Fest. This event is designed to create awareness in the community of the ecological benefits of “green” living
Earth Fest provides fun for all ages including mobile recreation, art projects, local health organizations; live music all day long; contests; dancing; composting info with free bike-safety checks, food & beverage vendors, and much more!

This is a cleanup of Boca Chica Beach at the mouth of the Rio Grande River. This area has a lot of trash. We have coordinated this event with County Commissioner Sophia Benavides’ office in order to have county support and trash pickup. Please come out and volunteer to make a difference.
This cleanup has been registered as a World Oceans Day 2019 event, and it has also been registered with American Rivers and Keep Texas Waterways Beautiful.
All cleanup supplies along with sunscreen and insect repellent will be provided.
Zombie Charge is a 5K open level, family friendly obstacle race hosted on the beach. It’s the only race that has obstacles and zombies in the midwest happening on South Padre Island. Bring friends, family and co-workers and make plans to stay on the island for an awesome beach run with challenges, obstacles, zombies and a festival at Clayton’s.
