Brownsville Raid Exhibit @ Heritage Museum, Vezzetti Room

The Brownsville Raid was an historic event of racial injustice against the 167 Buffalo Soldiers of the 25th Infantry, on August 13, 1906. The 167 Buffalo Soldiers of the 25th Infantry stationed at the Fort Brown were accused of the murdered of a white bartender and a lengthy trial ensued. The matter reached President Theodore Roosevelt, who ultimately dishonorably  discharged the Buffalo Soldiers, even though proof of culpability had not been found. The Buffalo Soldiers were eventually pardoned and honorably discharged in 1972 by President Nixon. the exhibit will include maps, never before seen images of Army / civilian correspondence, military pardon addendum and more. Through the help of Congressman Vela’s office and special research access of the National Archives, we present this unique exhibit.

Neutra's Biorealism. What was it and Does it Have a Future. @ George Kraiger House

Richard Neutra aimed at an economic architecture that accommodated what people DID, how the Socialized and what would promote their health and wellbeing. He thought that evidence about what was biologically sound could inspire and justify design. His son, Dr Raymond Neutra will explain where these commitments came from and how they were and could be applied.”

Ballet Nepantla @ TSC Art Center
Mar 24 @ 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Ballet Nepantla @ TSC Art Center

Ballet Nepantla presents a synergistic celebration with its production of “Valentina,” a historical ballet that celebrates the strength and resilience of women during Revolutionary Mexico.

“What New York City Ballet’s George Balanchine did with the folkloric dances of his native Russia, Ballet Nepantla is doing with the folkloric dances of Mexico.” (New York Latin Culture Magazine, February 2019) The way dancers show emotion in hand stretches and foot movements make the traditional “zapateado” look more modern. ” It can serve as an example to encourage other Latino children to fight to achieve their dreams. “

-Estefanía Hernández, El Diario NYC (September 2017)

“Valentina” explores the in-between-ness of cultures within the realm of dance, harmonizing traditional Mexican Folklorico with contemporary and classic ballet.
