Sanctus Martyrs of Faith @ Brownsville Museum of Fine Art

As my eye peers through the viewfinder of my camera, I’m mindful of my vision before I weigh down on my shutter release. To capture a series of photographs that shows the viewer a glimpse into a spiritual world of the many faces of Christian saints portrayed by model Claudia Marcela Henry. The repertoire of photos I present is a vision that was inspired by classical religious paintings and my perspective as a photographer to capture the majesty and beauty of the lives of Christian saints.

I am a Brownsville native and call this city my home. A photojournalist by day at The Brownsville Herald and an artist by night. Photography has been a constant in my life. There is no greater joy to me then to bring a nostalgic smile to those who view my photographs.

Brownsville Raid Exhibit @ Heritage Museum, Vezzetti Room

Brownsville Raid Exhibit @ Heritage Museum, Vezzetti Room

The Brownsville Raid was an historic event of racial injustice against the 167 Buffalo Soldiers of the 25th Infantry, on August 13, 1906. The 167 Buffalo Soldiers of the 25th Infantry stationed at the Fort Brown were accused of the murdered of a white bartender and a lengthy trial ensued. The matter reached President Theodore Roosevelt, who ultimately dishonorably  discharged the Buffalo Soldiers, even though proof of culpability had not been found. The Buffalo Soldiers were eventually pardoned and honorably discharged in 1972 by President Nixon. the exhibit will include maps, never before seen images of Army / civilian correspondence, military pardon addendum and more. Through the help of Congressman Vela’s office and special research access of the National Archives, we present this unique exhibit.
