Back by popular demand, this holiday season, the Brownsville Historical Association is proud to present its Department 56 Miniature Holiday Village collection. Founded in 1976, the Department 56 Company captures the spirit of Christmas through various themed collections that can be seen throughout the display. Donated by the Gloor family in memory of collector, June Gloor, the exhibit contains over 500 ceramic pieces including figurines, animals, and lit structures! This holiday season create a new tradition with friends and family by visiting this magnificent display.

If you know a fifth grader in the Brownsville area looking for a math challenge, “The Best of the Best” may be for you!

“The Best of the Best” is a fast-paced, problem-solving/computation competition where students race to see who can correctly answer as many as questions possible. Individual and team scores will be calculated and awards will be rewarded! So join us individually or gather your team of three from your school and join us for this fun competition.

This is one of Harmony’s annual events where we promote STEM education and engage the community in STEM. Besides the Math Meet there will be a STEM mini festival where visitors will experience fun STEM projects that Harmony students will showcase…

All skill levels are welcome. Basic binoculars and field guides are included. Deluxe binoculars are available for rent.

Regular park entrance fees apply ($4 per person; 12 years & younger are free). There is no extra fee for this program.

Admission is $2.50 per person, or free with the donation of a new, unwrapped toy for the Toy for Tots campaign. Zoo members get in free with their membership cards. Tickets are available for pre-sale online at gpz.org or can be purchased at the gate on each night of the event.

Lori Hunt, of Harlingen, will be the guest speaker at the Dec. 13 luncheon. She formerly worked as a reporter,freelance writer and advertising copy writer. Hunt will share her journey through cancer and how prayers for joy and a sense of humor were answered giving her joy and healing. There will also be a Wreath Contest/Wreath Auction. Women are encouraged to decorate wreaths and bringing them. The wreaths will be judged and the top three wreaths will be awarded a prize. All wreaths will be auctioned off.
