The Brownsville Public Library would like to invite you to come and join us for our 2015 Summer Reading Program!

  • Online registration begins on June 1, 2015 for the Summer Reading Program, Bookmark Design Contest, Teen Instagram Scavenger Hunt, and Blackout Poetry Contest. (Please see link for registration and rules: http://www.bpl.us/2015-summer-reading-program)
  • During the Summer Reading Program there will be presentations by Oscar Munoz, Dinosaur George, Palo Alto, the Brownsville Fire Department, the Children’s Museum, and Gladys Porter Zoo.
  • Come and join us for our Craft days, Movie days and Exploration Theater days!
  • Children are required to have their own library cards at the time of registration.
  • Children will receive a title log to keep track of their required reading for the summer.
  • Children ages 0-6 must read 20 books, children ages 7—12 must read a total of 7 books, and teens ages 13-17 must read a total of 5 books.
  • Once the participating child has read the required reading for the summer. (S)he must return: (1) the completed title log and (2) a library receipt that demonstrates at least one book was checked out at the library.
  • The participating child must write three (3) to five (5) sentences about one (1) of the books listed on the title log.
  • The Children’s Department will begin accepting title logs on June 22, 2015.
  • In return for completing the summer reading program, participating children will receive a small gift bag and a certificate of completion.
  • Children who (1) complete the program, (2) have a library account in good standing and (3) return all required documents will automatically be entered into a give-away!!!
  • All title logs and contest entries must be submitted to the Children’s Department by 9:00 pm on July 2, 2015.
  • The winners of the give-away and contests will be announced on July 10, 2015 at the Main Branch Library during the Awards Ceremony from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
