Downtown Brownsville Music Festival Returns!
The anticipated second annual South X Southmost music festival returns to historic downtown Brownsville from July 22 to July 23. Endorsed by Main Street Brownsville, South X Southmost is a music festival organized by BAM, located at 1045 W. Washington St. in Brownsville, TX. This year’s festival boasts an international lineup with musicians and bands not only from South Texas but also from the Texas Hill Country, Matamoros and Monterrey, Mexico.
SXSM kicks off on Friday July 22nd at 5PM at BAM, in collaboration with other favorite Downtown Brownsville venues such as The Kraken, El Hueso de Fraile, Half Moon Saloon, Galeria 409 and many more, with each venue hosting different live music events, gallery hours, arts and crafts and food vendors.
“SXSM is a critical mass of musicians, artists and invested community members that all believe that downtown Brownsville can offer the same quality of life as larger cities,” says Claudia Michelle Serrano, Operations Director of BAM.
“Main Street celebrates preserving the unique character and culture of our community,” notes Miriam Suarez, Main Street Brownsville Manager, “SXSM connects our community with artists from around the region who help stimulate downtown Brownsville’s nightlife with a unique collaborative twist.”
About BAM, Brownsville Artists and Musicians aims to collectively and openly foster the collaboration of creative individuals and artists in order to promote and sustain accessible visual and musical culture within our community.
About Main Street Brownsville, The mission of the Texas Main Street Program is to provide technical expertise, education, resources and support to designated Main Street communities.
