Pre-Columbian Exhibit @ Historic Brownsville Museum | Brownsville | Texas | United States

During Museum hours of 10 am to 4 pm, Tuesday thru Saturday

Come visit an exhibit of beautiful artifacts from what is referred to as the “Pre-Columbian Period”. Many of these pieces were gathered by individuals who traveled throughout the Americas. This is a collection of ancient terracotta and geographic domain extends broadly into the cultures of the most notable empires of the indigenous peoples of the Americas, prior to the arrival of Europeans in the 15th century. The mystical names of the Olmecs, the Maya, the Huastecans, and the Inca are nobly represented in this resident collection. Each artifact offers an insight into the daily lives of their crafters; whether the item be an effigy of a figure from the religious world, a utilitarian vessel that was a part of their culinary practice, or an object that was inspired solely on an artistic level.
