Dealing with Death by Overdose & Naloxone (Narcan) Training @ UTRGV

According to research, the U.S. has nearly 100 people die daily from an overdose which usually involves an opioid such as painkillers or heroin. The Department of Health and Human Services has labeled the problem as an epidemic. Despite research of the number of deaths occurring involving an opioid, there has been no research conducted in the U.S. to help the bereaved families. The workshop will involve and engage professionals how to apply the use of healing art activities to conduct grief work with bereaved families who lost a loved one to an opioid overdose.

In the Naloxone (Narcan) training, professionals will role-play a scenario assessing and assisting individuals who are experiencing symptoms of an opioid overdose and apply the use of Naloxone (Narcan) to reverse those effects and save a life. No medical training required. A certificate of completion will be provided to all participants.

Note: Participants will receive 3 CEUs for attending this workshop.

UTRGV STUDENTS ONLY: UTRGV students have the option of receiving a $15 discount on the fee for this course. Students who take advantage of the discount will not be eligible to receive CEU’s, but will receive a certificate of completion.
