The public is invited to attend the 5th Annual YappoPalooza Festival hosted by Sea Turtle, Inc. to raise funds to support sea turtle conservation. The YappoPalooza Sea Turtle Festival was held in San Marcos for four years. Now, the organizers are bringing the festival to the South Padre Island Convention Center on June 19 & 20, 2015.
It is a two-day event, with live music, comedian, silent auction, food and drinks, games for kids and arts and crafts vendors. The family-oriented festival raises awareness of sea turtle conservation efforts, encourages conservation volunteerism and raises critically needed funds for proven recovery projects. For more information about the festival visit our website www.yappopalooza.net or facebook.com/YappoPalooza.
BACKGROUND: YappoPalooza honors the memory of Jeffery “Yappo” Boruff, one of the dedicated volunteers that made a real difference working side-by-side with the professionals at the epicenter of the Bi-national Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle Project in Rancho Nuevo, Mexico administered by the Gladys Porter Zoo. The bi-national project represents one of the most successful endangered species recovery efforts ever undertaken. This extraordinary four-decade effort has brought Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles back from the brink of extinction.
