Texas Travel Counselors from across the state of Texas will visit Brownsville Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 5:50 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. The Brownsville Convention & Visitors Bureau in conjunction with Gladys Porter Zoo will be hosting an appreciation dinner at Gladys Porter Zoo for about 125 travel counselors and visitor service professionals. These professionals assist millions of tourists as they travel through Texas an visit Texas Travel Information Centers.

The objective of the Texas Travel Counselors dinner is to showcase one of the top zoos in the country and highlight all of the family-friendly attractions and events Brownsville has to offer. The goal is to communicate the message that it’s Always a Fiesta in Brownsville and encourage the tourist counselors to spread a positive message about the attractions and events in Brownsville to the millions of tourists that visit Texas Travel Information Centers.

The travel counselors will have the opportunity to tour the Zoo, feed a giraffe, touch a stingray, see animatronic dinosaurs and visit the new South Texas area of the Zoo. They will also have dinner, visit with exhibitors and participate in a bucket raffle.

Multiple locations on Zoo grounds will be utilized for the event. These include, breezeway, patio, museum, special events building, Giraffe Landing, Russell Aquatic Ecology Center and South Texas Botanical Exhibit and Park.

Guests will be welcomed by costumed greeters at the main entrance gate featuring the BCVB’s very own Charro & China to remind the counselors of Brownsville’s festive mood.
