The Brownsville Historical Association invites you to celebrate Texas History Month with An Evening with Flat Creek Estate: 3rd Annual Texas Wine Tasting at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Historic Alonso Building. Tickets are on sale now at the Brownsville Heritage Museum and are $25.00. This program is for adults 21 years old and older only.

The evening’s special guest is Flat Creek Estate founder and co-owner Rick Naber. During the evening, Mr. Naber will walk guests through the eight wines being tasted, while providing inside history and anecdotes to the Texas wine industry. With history going as far back as 1662, the Lone Star state’s wine industry is the third largest wine producing state in the country and contributes nearly $2 billion in value to the state’s economy.

During and after the wine tasting, guests will be able to enjoy hors d’oeuvres provided by Brownsville based Gazpacho’s restaurant and will be matched to the wines available during the tasting. After the tasting, guests will be free to drink wines they had enjoyed during the event.

Flat Creek Estate was founded by Rick and Madelyn Naber in 1998 after they purchased a plot of land along Flat Creek in Marble Falls, Texas. They started with six acres in 2000 and have since expanded to over 20 acres dedicated to the vineyard. By 2010, the Nabers expanded their winery to hold nearly 10,000 casks and added a cafe and wine tasting room. Today, in addition to the wines they produce, Flat Creek Estate wineries focuses on education, programs, and outreach within the Marble Falls community.

This event is sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors, Mendez Law Firm, ValleVillarreal Dental Center, Velasquez and Associates, and Gazpachos by Las Tablitas.
