Currently home to the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, Fort Brown’s place in Brownsville’s history is important. James Mills, professor of history at UBT-TSC offers visitors two wonderful opportunities to learn more about Fort Brown and the community’s connection to the first border post.
On Saturday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m., Mills will lead a walking tour of the campus as part of our 2012 winter walking tour series. Guests on the tour will discover the long history of Fort Brown, its contributions to the development of Brownsville and its important place in Texas and U.S. history. Admission for the tour is free for members and $5 for the public. The tour price includes coffee and pastries after the tour.
